 Roskilde Festival 2010 |  We didn't go to a festival this year, but we did go to a lot of concerts. Next year I think we should have a new Camp Gongumenn at Roskilde Festival. For those of you that haven't been to Roskilde I can say that it is quite different from the other festivals. Size is obviously a factor, but Roskilde feels much bigger than Rock-Im-Park, which has almost as many attendees.
The difference lies in several other factors beside the people count. There are many more bands (100+), lasts 8 days, the first four is 'warm-up' with camping fun and upcoming bands, and the last four with a full program of music, and much more extra-curricular activity than e.g. Rock-Im-Park (which almost didn't have any). The atmosphere is quite different, and better, which I presume is due to the longer duration.
The band list has not been revealed yet; bands will be confirmed every 1-2 weeks from now on. It will not be fully revealed until about a month before the festival starts. This is tradition, and Roskilde usually does not need to advertise; it is almost always fully booked. They have had a bit of problems the last couple years, due to weak program and the financial crisis. This means, however, that this year they have decided to go back to a more traditional program with big festival names, and they have even lowered the ticket price.
About 10 bands are confirmed for 2010 so far. The biggest are

I have heard rumors of other bands; Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Metallica. Interestingly, the rumor about Metallica is the one I believe the most, since I have it from insiders of the Roskilde booking team :)
As you may have guessed by now, I'm *completely* psyched to go to Roskilde, and have decided to go no matter what. The previous three times I have been to Roskilde I have been with the same camp; it is some guys I know from Engineering school and their friends. They are a great bunch of guys which I know will fit well with the Gongumenn. We should of course have our own camp, but I suggest we set up camp next to them, in order to kickstart the party. They also have a great festival sound system ;)

I had fun last time, that's for sure. If school allows I'll be there! And yeah, this time I want a gongumenn camp there, and not the crazy camp I was with last time - by the end of the festival it looked like a war-zone with not a single tent intact 
I wouldn't know if Roskilde is anything special since I don't have much to compare it with. Still I can say that it is HUGE with ALOT of people. Usually I consider the phrase "alot of people" to be wholly negative - when used about subways especially - but somehow it was not so with the Roskilde festival. There is some sort of happiness aura over the whole place that makes people behave rather different than your typical mob. Everybody is very positive and you can't help but become infected
Now, the only thing that can possibly go wrong is the weather. Last time I was there the sun shone the whole time. Maybe we'll be just as lucky this time around? - you know with global warming n all /poke Thomsen

Vi introducerer ny ordning, hvor du kan betale for din billet i fire rater.
For nogle er 1675 kr. for en festivalbillet for mange penge at betale på én gang. Derfor hjælper Roskilde Festival alle med lommesmerter med en ny rateordning.
Vi har i samarbejde med Billetlugen etableret en særlig ordning, hvor du kan betale billetten i fire rater (4 x 434,75 = kr. 1.675 - hvilket svarer til billettens pris, dertil kommer billet- og forsendelsesgebyr kr. 64,-).
Rateordningen er et forsøg i 2010. Derfor er tilbuddet i år udelukkende henvendt til personer med danske bankkonti |

@Spiff: News on Metallica is still the same, I'm afraid.
My source is actually the project manager for the customer of the project I'm working on, so it's not some random party dude. The tip about Metallica is absolutely solid; though last I heard they weren't signed yet. |

Roskilde Festival har præsenteret det samlede musikprogram for 2010. Af nye tilføjelser kan nævnes The Prodigy, Patti Smith og Kings of Convenience. TV 2 har spurgt en række musikkyndige, hvad man absolut ikke må gå glip af.

"Jeg ville glæde mig til at se Gorillaz. De har ingen rigtige medlemmer. Bandet består af tegneseriefigurer. Jeg har aldrig set dem live, så jeg kunne virkelig godt tænke mig at se, hvordan de klarer det.
Florence + The Machineer også værd at fremhæve. De udgav sidste år en af de største plader i Storbritannien.
Endelig er LCD Soundystem et must. Jeg har set dem på Roskilde én gang før, hvor de gav en kanon koncert."

Endelig vil jeg nævne svenske Robyn. Hende så jeg i 2008 og det var en fantastisk koncert, hvor hun serverede både gamle og nye hits. Koncerten blev en af de mest omtalte det år og det rygte tror jeg, har spredt sig."

It's not looking promising for me
They want me onboard again around June 20th, so unless I can get that changed somehow, I don't see how I can make it.
EDIT: strike that, I've just spoken to my boss, and it seems we might be able to work something out. I'll know in 2 weeks for sure. |

Yes, I have bought a ticket. Grizlas, Aliennizer, Paxen, and Michelsen have all acknowledged interest, but have not committed.
I have talked to the guys from my 'usual' camp, and they are ok with us either setting up camp next to them, or just joining them (depending on how many we are). They are a cool bunch of mostly laid-back guys and girls from Jutland (we camped with them in 2004, Spiff). |
