Al Gore nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
News by vuzmanAfter more than 20 years of working on environmental issues, playing a key part in forming the Kyoto protocol in 1997, and recently with the film "An Inconvenient Truth", Al Gore has thrust the global climate change issue into the public consciousness. He has been so successful with this that even President Bush has admitted that global climate change is a problem.

For putting the dangers posed by climate change on the global political agenda he has now been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in a shared nomination with Canadian environmentalist Sheila Watt-Cloutier.

Police jail rape victim for two days: Only in the US
News by NorlanderTAMPA - First, police say, a 21-year-old woman was raped at Gasparilla. Then, she was handcuffed and jailed - for two nights and two days.
A jail worker with religious objections blocked her from ingesting a morning-after pill to prevent pregnancy, her attorney says, keeping her from taking the required second dose for more than 24 hours longer than recommended.


"We may need to revisit our policy," police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.

The HBO documentary shows the Rev. Ted Haggard, the former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, talking frankly about how evangelical Christians have sex more than any other religious group.

Haggard resigned from the church in 2006, after a scandal linked him to drugs and a male prostitute.
