Fascinating read. I don’t know if I would have recognized his skill, but if I should guess I’d say no.
That said, I think I would recognize a masterful painting, even if I didn’t know it beforehand and it hung in a public place. Furthermore, I suspect I am getting better at recognising good English prose.
On the flipside, there is a guy regularly playing the accordion in the Nørreport metro, who does not know how to play it. Each time I pass him with someone else, I’ve pointed this fact out to them saying, listen he only plays a random chord for a few seconds then plays another. Still I see people passing him and throwing in a coin every now and then. I wonder if his hourly rate is any less than Bell’s if we subtract those 20 bucks at the end |

The "what is Art?" question has been with me since my early teens, but I haven't thought about it for years. Now I'm thinking about it again
It is quite a long read; something I know some people on this site seldom, if ever, have time for. There is an eschewed parallel there somewhere, between having the time for virtuoso music and the time for Pulitzer winning articles. |

For once, I actually took the time it took to read it... a perfect example of todays busy-ness.
I'm afraid, I'd be one of those people just wushing by, annoyed by the "noise." I hope, I'm wrong! |
