pet peeve:
Compassionate consumers can end their direct financial support of farmed animal abuse by rejecting dairy, and other animal products, and adopting a vegan diet.
That's like saying that by paying taxes you are providing direct financial support for police brutality, or by using oil you are providing direct financial support for the unprecedented destruction of wildlife habitats, or that by buying products made by muslims you are providing direct financial support for terrorism.
Nobody I know supports the sick cruelty on display here. If this is a wide spread problem, then there is a widespread breaking of the law going on, and the police should do something about it.
Please don't view my objections as a statement about vegitarianism. It is the argument that is faulty, not vegetarianism or veganism. |

Here I was only referring to the "abuse" part. It is hard to contest the claim that meat eaters are providing direct financial support for farmed animal killing.
Whether vegetariansim and veganism is faulty or not, is another discussion - one that I was trying to avoid since it usually deteriorates quite quickly. |
