'Half a chromosome removed' <- what does that mean? |

I recently heard it mentioned that humans are half a chromosome removed from chimpanzees, and viewing this vid brought it to mind. |

Oh? Sounds weird. Especially since we're an entire chromosome pair apart... Then again, there's an interesting reason for that; which reminds me of an interesting video. I'll try to find it. Anyway, I don't think it can be measured like that anyway, just like the '98.2% percent of genome is the same' is not really true either.

It was Hitchens that said it, I now realize, and he used the word away from, but I think removed from can go there. Anyhow, the difference is probably best visualized; from wikipedia:
