Grandad: Back when I was your age, I had to remember things completely unaided by technology
Kid: You mean, with an unaided brain?
Grandad: Exactly, even important stuff, like where you live, your parents birthdays, et cetera.
Kid: You're ***** me.
Grandad: I ***** you not. Though large documents had to be filed away on a computer.
Kid: I thought you said unaided.
Grandad: Back then, a computer was a big box with lots of 1's and 0's, attached to a screen, and a piece of plastic with letters on it. You had to push each letter individually to form words, then sentences, and then even paragraphs for the computer to remember a thought.
Kid: So you sat there and repeatedly pushed a bunch of letters to record a thought?
Grandad: That's right, and before then, you had to use a pen and paper. Instead of pushing letters, you had to draw them out with a tube full of ink and a pointed end.
Kid: MOM, GRANDAD'S GOING SENILE!
Grandad: No, really! Wait! It's true! You couldn't do it with computers back then because they were too big, you couldn't even fit them into a room.
Kid: That's right, grandad! Big, big, giant computers!
Grandad: STOP MOCKING ME!
Kid: Buttons with letters on them! 1's and 0's, I completely get it!
Grandad: You *****... ...NOOOB! |

Slightly OT: I've actually gotten several job offers through LinkedIn, so it's not that useless... |
