A little over two years ago the brilliance of Burt Rutan gave us the first privately-funded manned spaceflight. I was deeply moved by it, even if various persons tried to rain on the event. Yes it was a sub-orbital flight, yes it only lasts for a short while and yes the technology has to be completely reworked if it's to enable us to go to the Moon and beyond. BUT the fact that we could finally expect spaceflight to leave the realm of military test pilots and enter the world of the common man filled me with hope, curiosity and imagination. Later that year Richard Branson and Burt Rutan announced that an improved SpaceShipTwo would form the backbone of the world's first commercial Spaceline Company, and that in a few years time we could all buy our tickets to space.
The dream lives on, now two years have passed the new spaceplanes have been built, various Government approvals have been given and the Promotional Trailer has been released.
