Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows
News by GrizlasThe time has finally come for the end of the phenomenal childrens fantasy series that is Harry Potter.

For a long time I regarded those Harry Potter books people were reading as predominantly childrens books that were not for me. I was an adult that had long since stopped being intrigued by simple plots involving wizards and magical creatures. That was until i picked up the first book one night - just to read the intro of course - and ended up reading the next 3 books in two days. Ever since then I've eagerly been awaiting each release like a little kid.

The final installment in the series, Deathly Hallows, will be released at midnight on the 21th of july in britain. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a copy soon after that.

Here's a snippet from wikipedia:

"The book reached the top spot on both the Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble bestseller lists just a few hours after the date of publication was announced on 1 February 2007. Retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Borders are reporting that more orders have been placed for this book than for any other in history, and American publisher Scholastic announced an unprecedented initial print run of 12 million copies. The book is expected to be 608 pages in the British edition, and has been confirmed to be 784 pages in the US edition.

I will permanently boycott the first media that blurts the ending, before a reasonable time has passed, so people have a chance to read it themselves first. (Permanently being as long as my short memory lasts smiley)
Of course, I am not 'one of those people' that read children's books, maybe I should start, I liked the movies smiley

yeah, there has already been one issue where the new york times published a spoiler-filled review early, which triggered a response from Rowling. Better not read too much about the book I think, or it might ruin it for me.

As with so many other films Roffen...they really are no substitute for books smiley

I actually bought it on "opening night", but that was mostly because of a desire to see if it would turn out to be some kind of Potter-happening with people dressed up as wizards, witches and such-like smiley But it turned out just to be a bunch of ordinary muggles, I'm afraid smiley

hehe, would have wanted to be outside that london bookstore....must have been crazy

I've finished the book now. Fantastic!

There are lots of surprises and unexpected plot twists that I'm not sure all Potter fans will be happy with.

All in All, Rowling has delivered. The Harry Potter series puts her right up there with Tolkien, Lewis and other great children's books authors.
